I have been In Guatemala almost a week. Crazy! The first couple days were an orientation of how the next 3 months will look and just logistical things. Yesterday was team Kaleo’s first ministry day. Which means 5 out of the 7 days we partner with groups/churches in the community to love on the Guatemalan people. We worked with a group called Reindom (kingdom in Spanish and English put together). We hosted a lunch in the park for alcoholics, drug Addicts, homeless people and just people who needed a meal. We decorated tables with flowers, table cloths, place mats, music and good food. We also washed their hands, gave them masks and name tags so we can get to know these people. They do this to let these people know that they are worthy even when others don’t think they are. We split up into smaller groups to go around the city and find people to pray for and to invite to the lunch. Me, Charytie, a guy from Reindom and Kevin from another squad went together. We didn’t have any luck finding people in the beginning but then we saw these kids. Of course most people stare at a group of Gringas walking around so they were laughing and waving. So we stopped to talk and their mother came out to talk as well. After talking for a minute she invited us in to pray for her and her family. After praying for her she let us know there was another woman that wanted to be prayed for. So we prayed over her and she broke down sobbing. It was heart breaking because she was speaking in Spanish as we prayed and it was as if she was begging for the prayer to work. It’s crazy how in America if you asked to pray for someone they are stand offish but here in Guatemala people want to be prayed for. Then we prayed over these women’s daughters who were no older than 16, but they were pregnant and married. Which was also a big culture shock, because it is so normal here. After that we left and went to the lunch and just loved on the people who came. It was just a crazy day. To see these people who have nothing but wanting to have a relationship with God or just happy to have a conversation with people who care. It makes me excited for the next 3 months.

As always here’s some photos:
